Welcome! PlantCraft is a website dedicated to simple, healthy, plant-based cooking that celebrates seasonal ingredients. Here you’ll find vegan, gluten free, allergen free, vegetable dishes-many are raw vegan as well! I occasionally do desserts, too.
My name is Rachel Carr and I’m a professional vegan chef. I started this website in 2014 to share recipes from my restaurant Six Main, but it’s kind of morphed into my on-line home as a chef!
The Recipes
I want to help you become a more confidant plant-based cook, and I hope to encourage you to enjoy all the beautiful variety of a plant-food diet.
I post about 2 new recipes a week, usually, with some articles providing tips and tricks thrown in. All recipes are vegan and most are gluten free.
About me + my journey here
I have been a vegetarian/vegan for the last 25 years, mostly veering towards a vegan diet in that time! Most of the restaurants I’ve worked in have been vegan as well, with a few that served cheese and eggs.
I subscribe to the theory that the most convincing way to help people transition to a plant based or vegan diet is to feed them delicious plant food! This helps take away some of the trepidation and pre-conceived notions people have.
I am currently living in Los Angeles and am working at Wanderlust Hollywood in the Silverlake neighborhood of LA as culinary director.
I love practicing yoga and hiking when I get the chance. My perfect day would be a hike in Griffith Park, followed by a huge fresh green juice and raw salad and then an evening yoga class!
