Grapefruit is a great addition to any cleanse or raw detox-it’s full of water which helps flush the kidneys and liver, and there are abundant fat burning enzymes that will boost your metabolism. Like lemon, it’s considered an alkaline food even though it tastes acidic. Whether you juice it, eat it in salad or even grill it, you’ll love these ruby reds!
For the salad:
5-8 wedges Ruby Red Grapefruit, pith removed
1/2 avocado
2 cups Arugula
For the Lemon Poppy Seed Dressing;
1/4 cup Agave, Yacon, Maple Syrup or chopped Dates
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/2 tsp ground mustard
1 tsp. red onion minced
1/3 cup olive oil
1/2 Tb poppy seed
Mix everything except oil and seeds in blender, add oil slowly until emulsified, stir in poppy seeds.
Toss with mixed greens, lay sectioned grapefruit and avocado on top.
