Blood Orange Chia Smoothie

There are a few memories that I have of a perfect food moment-one was in Connecticut when I was scouting the site for my restaurant Six Main. It was October (the beginning of apple season!) and we were sight seeing in the country side. We passed a farm stand that advertised “pick your own apples.” We bought a few different kinds of apples for the road, and I will never forget the first bite! It was…a perfect apple. It was everything that an apple could be-perfectly crisp, juicy, sweet. It was fully apple in every way. It was so satisfying to experience something so perfectly fulfilling it’s potential.

Another memory that I have is picking an orange off a wild tree in Ojai, CA. Again it was so fully ORANGE and it was incredible! It was as if I could taste the sun bursting through! In fact it was still warm from the sun shining on it’s peel.

Imagine how beautiful we can be when we are fully ourselves, fulfilling our own potential. Imagine that sweetness of being.

Delicious anti inflammatory smoothie chockful of protein and antioxidants.

Ingredients
  • 2 blood oranges, peeled
  • 1 Tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 Tablespoon agave or honey (optional)
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 1 banana
  • 1 container Bio-K non dairy probiotic supplement (optional)
Instructions
  1. Blend until smooth and garnish with a fresh slice of blood orange!
